The cable is used mainly for data transmission between wired computer networks. The LZSH sheath makes it perfect for installations where smoke emissions and toxic fumes create a potential risk to life in case of a fire. This cable is compliant under CPR 2017 for use in public buildings. Cat 6 cables are backwards compatible with CAT5 and CAT5E
