Light Duty V90 PVC Flexible Cord 250/250V Cable - 0.50mm² to 4mm²
Description
Light Duty V90 PVC Flexible Cords are designed as specialised electrical supply cables rated at 250/250V, specifically engineered for internal applications that demand higher thermal endurance. This range features plain annealed flexible stranded copper conductors, insulated with a V-90 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) compound and protected by a 5V-90 PVC outer sheath, allowing the assembly to safely withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 90°C. Manufactured in both flat and round configurations, the range fully complies with the structural requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZS 3191 and AS/NZS 1125. They serve as an ideal choice for double-insulated appliances or light equipment requiring a dependable connection, such as desk lamps, radios, shavers, hair dryers, and small office machines.
These cables are suited for installation in internal, dry environments only where there is no risk of moisture or atmospheric exposure. Due to their light-duty construction, they offer minimal resistance against physical damage and are not advised for outdoor use or demanding commercial areas. The flexible PVC outer sheath is intended purely for low-stress setups and must not be positioned where it will encounter mechanical strain, severe abrasion, crushing forces, or direct impact. The primary advantage of the V90 variant is its elevated heat resistance, making it suitable for wiring compartments close to heat sources or inside compact enclosures where thermal buildup occurs, though alternative heavier-duty or rubber-sheathed cable variants should still be specified for damp or high-risk zones.
For safe installation, the cable must be handled carefully to prevent tight kinks, maintaining a minimum bending radius of six times the overall cable diameter during flexing. Installers should always use appropriate protective bushings or cord grip fittings when feeding the cable through enclosures or equipment chassis to eliminate any potential for structural chafing. As these are designated as flexible cords, standard electrical safety regulations require that they only be used to connect temporary or portable equipment and must never be utilized as a permanent substitute for the fixed wiring within a building structure
