Nexans - N2XY IEC 60502-1 XLPE PVC 0.6/1kV Cable - 1.5mm² to 630mm²
Description
N2XY from Nexans is a low-voltage unarmoured power cable designed for fixed electrical installations across industrial properties, urban networks, and power stations. The cable features a plain annealed copper conductor—available in Class 1 solid or Class 2 stranded variants—insulated with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), layered with a PVC bedding in a tough, UV-resistant black PVC outer sheath. It is engineered for versatile indoor and outdoor routing, fixed directly to walls, laid on cable trays, installed within conduits, or buried directly underground where adequate external mechanical protection is maintained.
Manufactured to meet the rigorous demands of modern low-voltage distribution networks, this cable is designed and tested in accordance with international standard IEC 60502-1 for extruded solid insulation power cables rated from 1 kV to 3 kV. The copper conductors conform fully to IEC/EN 60228 criteria, while the outer jacket provides reliable fire safety characteristics, proving flame retardant to BS EN/IEC 60332-1-2 standards. The entire construction satisfies CPR2017 requirements alongside national harmonisation standards including VDE 0276-603 and HD 603 S1.
Installers should maintain a minimum bending radius of 12 times the overall cable diameter for multicore configurations, increasing to 15 times the diameter for single-core variations to preserve insulation integrity. Because N2XY is an unarmoured cable line, it must never be subjected to excessive pulling tension or heavy impact stress, and must be housed within protective ducts or conduit routing if deployed in environments exposed to external mechanical hazards. These Nexans cables are suitable for a range of fixed installation applications where the cable is adequately protected from mechanical hazards.
