SANS Type 622 / 622-ECC 12.7/22 kV - 25mm² to 150mm²
Description
The SANS Type 622 / 622-ECC 12.7/22 kV cable is a premium medium voltage flexible trailing line manufactured with Class 5 flexible stranded tinned annealed copper conductors, robust EPR insulation, individual tinned copper and nylon composite screens, and a heavy-duty polychloroprene outer sheath reinforced with an open nylon braid. This exceptionally resilient cable is purpose-built to withstand severe abrasion, impact, and continuous mechanical stress, making it the ideal solution for heavy-duty trailing and vertical reeling applications on mining equipment, draglines, shovels, and mobile power supplies.
The range fully satisfies the stringent design and manufacturing protocols of SANS 1520-2 for trailing cables used in mining operations, alongside material quality benchmarks SANS 1411-1 for conductor flexibility and SANS 1411-3 for advanced rubber insulation and sheathing performance. Featuring a standard rated voltage of 12.7/22kV, this cable provides dependable, safe power distribution in the most demanding hazardous and heavy industrial environments.
The cable is to be installed with a minimum bending radius of 9 times the overall cable diameter during active dynamic reeling and dragging operations. It is designed to safely operate within a temperature envelope of -25°C to +90°C, ensuring that all high-voltage terminations are completed using compatible heavy-duty trailing accessories and executed by certified personnel.
