SANS Type 63 1.9/3.3 kV Cable - 25mm² to 240mm²
Description
Type 63 cables are Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) insulated trailing and reeling cables specifically engineered for the 1.9/3.3kV power supply of medium-sized opencast mining machinery, including draglines, shovels, drills, and section feeders.
The internal construction consists of three phase cores—each individually screened with a tinned copper and nylon braid—laid up alongside unscreened pilot cores. To ensure high-performance durability in hazardous areas and mobile applications, the assembly features a Polychloroprene Rubber (CR) inner and outer sheath bonded together, providing enhanced torsional protection and mechanical integrity.
While sharing a similar architectural design with Type 61 (low voltage) and Type 633 (high medium voltage) variants, Type 63 cables are uniquely optimised for their specific voltage class. The robust CR sheathing provides essential resistance to abrasion, oils, sunlight, and UV radiation, ensuring operational longevity under the intense physical and environmental stresses of both opencast and sub-surface mining conditions.
