Description

The Thermocouple TX Overall Screen Armoured Cable range, supplied by Cleveland Cable Company, comprises instrumentation extension cables designed to transmit temperature data from Type T thermocouple sensors. Manufactured to specifications including IEC 60584-3, BS 4937 and ANSI MC 96.1, these cables have a 300V instrumentation rating. Construction features matched extension alloys, with a positive plain copper (Cu) conductor and negative copper-nickel (CuNi) conductor, insulated with flame-retardant PVC. An overall aluminium/polyester foil screen and tinned copper drain wire help minimise electromagnetic interference and signal distortion. The cores are enclosed in PVC bedding, galvanised steel wire armour (SWA) and a robust black PVC outer sheath.

Designed for industrial environments exposed to electrical interference and mechanical stress, these cables are suitable for power stations, oil refineries, chemical processing plants and heavy manufacturing facilities where reliable temperature monitoring is essential. The steel wire armour provides protection against impact, tensile stress and crushing, while the outer sheath resists weathering, UV radiation and chemical ingress. Operating temperatures range from -30°C to +105°C.

Suitable for fixed installations, these cables can be direct buried in free-draining soil, installed through underground plastic ducts and conduits, or routed above ground on external structures, building walls and indoor or outdoor cable trays. A minimum bending radius of 15 times the overall cable diameter must be maintained after fixed installation to support mechanical and electrical performance.
