XHIOV Cable
Description
The XHIOV cable is a single-core or three-core medium voltage power cable manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-2 and IEC 60228, following Portuguese standard designations. The cable construction comprises a Class 2 stranded copper conductor, semi-conductive conductor and insulation screens, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, a copper wire metallic screen, and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) outer sheath. These medium voltage cables are available across a full range of rated voltages: 3.6/6 kV, 6/10 kV, 8.7/15 kV, 12/20 kV, and 18/30 kV.
This cable is engineered for industrial power supply and distribution within power stations and substations. It is built to withstand fixed temperature limits ranging from -20°C to +90°C. The robust PVC outer sheathing provides reliable ultraviolet (UV) radiation resistance for outdoor exposure and possesses flame-retardant properties compliant with BS EN/IEC 60332-1-2. Water-blocking variants are also available to provide a secure barrier against moisture ingress in damp environments.
Designed for versatile deployment, XHIOV is ideal for fixed internal or external installations. It can be routed in open air on cable trays, laid underground in cable ducting, or directly buried in free-draining soil. During installation, the cable requires a minimum bending radius of 15 times the overall diameter to maintain structural integrity.
The cable is available with Aluminium conductor in the LXHIOV range of cables.
