BS7629 Cable

BS7629 Cable

BS7629 is the British Standard defining the construction requirements for cables intended to maintain circuit integrity and withstanding fire, mechanical shock, and water exposure, as defined by the standard. BS7629 cables are crucial for maintaining the functionality of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and voice alarm systems during a fire.

To be compliant, these cables must withstand 15 minutes under fire and impact conditions, plus a further 15 minutes under fire, impact and water immersion.

Cleveland Cable Company's range of BS7629 cables are also compliant to BS5839, covering fire resistance up to 30 minutes (standard) and up to 120 minutes (enhanced). These cables are typically used in security lighting, fire detection, and fire alarm applications.

Low Smoke & Corrosive Gas Emission: It is designed to minimize smoke and corrosive gas emissions when burned, which is important for safety in fire situations.
Applications: Commonly used in fire detection, fire alarm, voice alarm, and emergency lighting circuits. It's also suitable for security lighting and voice alarm systems.
Enhanced versions: "Enhanced" versions of BS7629 cable offer increased fire resistance, recommended for systems in buildings where prolonged operation of safety systems is needed during a fire, like in multi-story buildings.
