BS7919 cables are flexible cables primarily used for connecting appliances and equipment in industrial and similar environments where flexibility and resistance to mechanical abrasion are needed. These cables are designed for voltage ratings of 300/500V for ordinary duty and 450/750V for heavy-duty applications.
Applications include:
Equipment connection: Power generators, lighting, and other devices where cables need to be moved and flexed.
Industrial environments: Suitable for use in areas with mechanical stress and where resistance to oil and grease is required.
Temporary installations: Used on construction sites and outdoor events where flexibility and durability are important.
Equipment with moving parts: Suitable for applications like portable appliances, and audio equipment due to their flexibility.
Wind turbine applications: The cable's torsion resistance makes it suitable for use in wind-powered generator installations.
Important notes about BS7919:
The standard was withdrawn in 2012 and partially superseded by BS EN 50525.
BS7919 cables are available in various colors, including the commonly known "Arctic Grade Cable"
Arctic Grade Cable was specifically designed for use with 110V transformers and is suitable for low-temperature installations down to -25°C.
